Caryn Kaftal is a change management consultant working at the intersection of strategy, leadership and organization. An American who has lived in Paris for almost 15 years, Caryn brings over 25 years of experience working with CEOs and senior executives on topics related to transformational change. She works in collaboration with expert partners to address complex business challenges. Caryn specializes in the areas of senior team alignment and strategic change management, with deep expertise in talent management and leadership development as levers for change. She also serves as a trusted advisor supporting senior leaders leading transformational change.
Caryn has divided her career between external consulting and internal change leadership roles at blue chip companies. She was an executive at General Electric where she worked closely with Jack Welch and Crotonville CLO Steve Kerr leading global change initiatives. She was also a member of the leadership team of GE’s Corporate Audit Staff, renowned for its role in developing future CEO talent. More recently Caryn was the Senior Vice President for Leadership Development and Organization Transformation at GlaxoSmithKline where she built centers of excellence in talent and leadership to support massive transformation in the business.
On the consulting side, Caryn has been a Partner with Monitor Group and Delta Consulting (later Mercer Delta and Delta Oliver Wyman) where she was responsible for launching their practice in France. She is a trained facilitator and coach, certified in a range of assessment instruments including the Hogan suite. Her clients have included Ford Motor Company, L’Oréal, EDF Energy, The New York Times Company, Iron Mountain, ThomsonReuters, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Smithsonian, BMW, The International Herald Tribune, Lafarge and the OECD as well as various clients in Financial Services. She is a generalist across industries and geographies.
Caryn earned a BA in International Relations and European History from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from Harvard Business School where she received the Horace W. Goldsmith Fellowship for contributions to public service management. She also holds an MA in Liberal Studies and Communications from Wesleyan University. She resides in both Paris, France and New Haven, CT.
