Tom Curren, MBA
Tom Curren has thirty years experience working across industries at the CEO and Divisional President levels, specializing in strategy and general management issues.
Over the last fifteen years, Tom has focused his professional practice and personal development on using leading edge techniques to achieve the simultaneous resolution of business and relationship/emotional issues. These are available to clients through SmartStart Best Practices.
With a concentration in consumer goods and marketing, Tom has been a Senior Engagement Manager at McKinsey and an advertising Account Executive for Procter & Gamble, where he developed the rigor and insight to solve problems, analyze opportunities, and deal with complexity in a variety of settings.
Throughout the 1980s, Tom served as Senior VP of Corporate Planning and Business Development at Marriott Corporation, helping the company grow from $1 billion to $7 billion.
Tom is trained as a professional coach and has coached dozens of CEOs and other senior level executives. In addition to “advising” based on his own experiences, he is able to step back and help executives discover their own answers through the use of such techniques as powerful questions, reflecting back what the executive has said, challenging assumptions, and holding the executive accountable for meeting their own standards.
Tom’s ongoing “inner work” allows him to connect in a deeply personal way with the hopes and concerns of his colleagues and clients. Part of his non-corporate work includes staffing experiential weekends that reconnect people to their feelings, their integrity and their mission in the world.
Tom received his MBA in Marketing and Finance from Wharton Graduate Division, University of Pennsylvania. He lives in Boulder, Colorado with his wife Donnie and 21 year old son, Rob.
