Susan Jones, JD
Susan, a Mobius Executive Coach, had two previous “careers” which she relies and drawns upon to support and challenge her coaching clients.
As an early professional, Susan practiced corporate and transactional law for ten years in a variety of settings including a large, full service law firm, a start up wireless communications company and a large, Fortune 500 corporation. As a lawyer, Susan concentrated in telecommunications and talent management, negotiating large, international transactions and supporting the development of human capital for entertainment entities.
Upon moving from New York to California, Susan left the law behind, focusing more specifically on people and professional development with McKinsey & Co, where she served for ten years as a professional development manager for the High Tech industry practice and West Coast Complex, supporting the professional growth and development of the Firm’s consultants. In the final phase of her work with McKinsey, Susan focused on coaching the Firm’s partners, performing qualitative and evaluative “360 degree” assessments as well as developing, managing and delivering two learning programs designed for the Firm’s internally elected partners – one focusing on leadership and the other, focusing on building negotiation skills.
In 2009, Susan left McKinsey to develop an independent coaching and facilitation practice with an intention to help and support the development of leaders in all sectors. With her background in law and business, Susan brings a pragmatic, business orientation to her coaching.
Susan has completed her coaches training at Coaches Training Institute and is a certified CPCC by the International Coaching Federation. She is a certified facilitator from the Arbinger Institute, best known for their best selling book “Leadership and Self-Deception.” Susan graduated with an AB in English Literature from Franklin & Marshall College and received her JD from University of Pittsburgh. She is an inactive member of both the New Jersey and Washington, DC bars.
When not coaching, Susan lives in Oakland, CA with her husband and three daughters.
