Liz Owen
Liz Owen has been practicing yoga since 1984 and teaching since 1990. As a successful architect, Liz was first drawn to the Iyengar method, with its systematic exploration of the alignment and form of the poses. In 1995, she received Iyengar yoga teacher certification, put aside her architectural career, and aligned herself with her heart’s work in the form of teaching yoga full-time.
Since then Liz has become engrossed in yoga as her life’s complete path. Her personal practices of asana, pranayama, meditation, and chanting deeply inform her teaching as well as her life. She has brought fullness to her understanding of yoga by studying with world-renowned teachers of many different styles. These teachers include B.K.S. Iyengar, whom she studied with directly in India, Patricia Walden, Erich Schiffman, David Life, Sharon Gannon, Rod Stryker, John Friend, and Ana Forrest. Liz’s heart is deeply touched, inspired, and opened by Zen Buddhist master Thich Nhat Hanh.
Liz is a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 500-hour level with the Yoga Alliance.
