Debbie Duguay

Debbie Duguay’s love of drums began the moment she entered her first class in 1998, and she’s been playing and giving lessons ever since. Not only is drumming exciting and fun, but Debbie has found it to have therapeutic benefits that extend to other areas of life. She even sees it as a form of meditation.

Debbie’s teaching style is warm and relaxed, yet always challenging — she has a talent for bringing out the best in her students. She teaches both private and group lessons, to students at all levels of skill. She can have a beginner, who has never played a musical instrument, up and drumming confidently within a single session, giving even the most rhythmically challenged an immediate sense of accomplishment. With experienced drummers, she teaches more complex rhythms and focuses on speeding up and improving technique in order to make the drum really sing, and to give students new possibilities for rhythmic expression. Debbie’s creativity, patience, and enthusiasm help each student to fully experience the excitement and sense of well-being that drumming brings.
