Ben Benjamin, PhD
Ben Benjamin is the co-founder, with Amy Elizabeth Fox, of Mobius Executive Leadership, a national training company focusing on communication skills and best practices in corporate settings. Dr. Benjamin is an entrepreneur, business owner, writer, trainer and business coach/consultant with over three decades of experience in creating successful ventures and supporting and empowering individuals in their professional lives.
Dr. Benjamin holds a Ph.D. in Education and serves as president of a respected educational institution that he founded in 1974. Today, his school employs over one hundred faculty and staff and has an enrollment of over 300 students. In creating this institution, Dr. Benjamin used a consensus model of decision-making, treating the full spectrum of employees with respect and gathering continual input from every level of the organization. The success of his model can be measured by the impressively high employee retention rate at his school, the association with Harvard Medical School’s Osher Institute’s research, and the number of course ideas and workshops which have been successfully replicated from his prototypes.
Drawing on his expertise in communicating complex ideas in simple and straightforward ways, Dr. Benjamin now devotes a portion of his time coaching people around the country in various types of business environments. He has created an innovative 12-point strategy that helps individuals, teams, and ventures become more efficient and successful. These strategies include effective boundaries and parameters of work tasks; strategic organization, planning and follow through; education in specific communication skills that add to productivity and minimize conflict; and creation of a network of relationships to help the business succeed. As both trainer and coach, Dr. Benjamin teaches leaders, managers and executives to facilitate efficient and productive meetings and to manage people with firmness, respect, kindness, and good boundaries. He has incorporated the SAVI® communication model into his work for the past three years in staff development seminars and in the training of meeting facilitators.
Dr. Benjamin holds a Ph.D. in sports medicine as well as education. He has studied under the British physician Dr. James Cyriax, widely known for his pioneering work in orthopedic medicine. Dr. Benjamin has been working with people in physical pain for over 40 years and is the author of many articles on working with pain and injury problems as well as his widely used books in the field, Listen to Your Pain, Are You Tense?, and Exercise Without Injury.
Since 1987, Dr. Benjamin has trained individuals to teach numerous workshops he has developed. These certified instructors have offered his courses throughout the United States and in Europe. Dr. Benjamin has presented his workshops at the Interface Foundation in Massachusetts, the Omega Institute in New York, Massachusetts Rehabilitation Hospital, the University of Delaware, Sarah Lawrence College and Duke University, among others.
Dr. Benjamin is a speaker who inspires and motivates people to follow through on their ideas and desires so that their work may be more meaningful, productive, and efficient. Teaching how to delegate major organizational responsibilities effectively is one of his strongest skills, as well as enabling his clients to earn more money in shorter periods of time. His television appearances include the Today Show, Boston’s Good Morning Show, Seattle Today, A.M. New York, and Good Morning Houston, and he has frequently been a featured guest on radio stations from coast to coast. The author of four books, Dr. Benjamin is a regular columnist in several professional journals and publishes approximately 20 articles a year in those and other venues on issues ranging from business to coaching to health concerns. Prior to his current work, Dr. Benjamin served as department head at Spectrum Medical Arts and founded one of first Pilates studios in the Boston area. He has received a number of distinguished awards for professional leadership.
Dr. Benjamin holds a Ph.D. in Education and Sports Medicine from Union Graduate School. He lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
